Panasonic just trying to jump on the latest internet bandwagon. The stupid Fuji X100. Stupid camera that does filters. That everyone loves just because so called photographers on tiktok love it. They should instead focus on their strengths. Video and M4/3.

you know whats not fun? taking a photo and seeing it come out all wobbly because of electronic shutter. not being able to take a photo in the dark because your camera doesnt have a flash.

LUMIX USA really shot themselves in the f/8 foot for emailing that to you lmao. mans the epitome of a happy photographer. the most fun i had while shooting pics was with small and/or cheap cameras (Ricoh GRii, Sony ZV1, Canonet QL17, Sony A7s), just easier to carry around and i wont be as heartbroken if it breaks lol.

Robin, you’re the reason I own an OM-1.2. It’s nothing to do with OMDS. You can hire pretty much every camera here in the U.K., heck Fuji will even loan you one for free. But I couldn’t find an OM1 to hire. I even emailed OMDS asking where I could. An email that went unanswered. I don’t think they realise quite what they’ve lost.

S9 in malaysia already? Do you shoot in johor? Why so many oodie always come to KL first, I know its the capital city but still, more come to johor wuicker please, maybe an Apple Store here too hahaha My favourite color is yellow, S9 and Zf both odwant uave it but I will get te Zf, more tactile and ere is ywllow model for Zfc now hence mayb one day will come to the Zf too, if not, I will jist order a Yellow leather and DIY replace it myself!

By the way: the GM5 not only has an EVF, but also a mechanical shutter and a hotshoe.

I am the target audience for the S9. I'm looking for a camera that is the spiritual successor to my GX1 and Pen Lite and Pen Mini cameras in terms of size, performance and fun. The S9 isn't that camera. I have significant investment in m4/3 cameras and kit and want continuity with that. The lack of an EVF is also a deal-breaker - I can't use a back display without wearing glasses but can use an EVF (I have the GX1 EVF) or the OVF on my DSLR. Really disappointed with the S9. My photography is all about enjoying the process, can't see that happening with the (also expensive) S9. A new m4/3 body in the form factor of the GM1/5 would be me.

We also have the Panasonic Leica 12mm f/1.4

A simpler version of this is out there, the EPL 5 which is a form of the little brother to this, with only 3 Axis image stabilizer, and no evf, but has the same sensor ;)

The funny thing is.. If people don't care about specs they don't bother with buying a camera at all.. Even less if it's m43 or FF!! If I had a dollar for every time I've heard "why do you use a camera? Just buy a better phone" I'd have many many dollars now 😂

Had to smile at your video. Calling a guy that starts every video with a giant smile and says “Lets Do This.” Someone that doesn’t understand fun is missing something.

I bought second hand GM1, GF2, GX1 and several prime lenses (14 2.5, 25 1.7, 42.5 1.7) this year, I can bring all 3 set camera combos out for shooting for ease of changing lenses, and still lighter than my previous full frame camera plus 3 heavy primes. I can hang one camera on neck and one hand holding second camera for shooting. Still, I am looking for a good GM5 in order to further reduce the weight!

Here is my take, if the camera is too similar to smartphone, there is no reason to get a camera Panasonic, just make a GM5 with m43 with manual control, it will sell like hot cake

I like your real-life analysis of the cameras that you present without the gooey, marketing spiel that most UA-camrs think they must follow. The dude that wrote to you thinks that you're his sales "bitch". He lectured you how you are to sell his product. Once you start selling out to camera brands, I will unsubscribe. Love your videos Robin, that was a massive PR fail from Panasonic USA. Panasonic Lumix if you are seeing this, for exactly the SAME price, if I could buy an 11yo Lumix GM1 brand new vs a brand new Lumix S9, my heard and wallet would go for the GM1, if that’s not clear enough how much you have missed the point.

Nice Video Robin, its allways FUN to watch your Content. I think the S9 is probably a great camera to have fun with but to expensive for less of features. For that price i expected a full featured camera. I hope there well be a GX9ii in the future, thats the camera a lot of people waiting for to have a loooot of FUN with...📷😃

Love this video! I totally agree with you. I havent tried S9 but GM1 sure is a fun camera. I used to own one, but i sold it because i needed a camera with a viewfinder and a tilt screen, so i moved to Sony RX100. But if I find GM1 with a good reasonable price, i probably will get it again.

Hi Robin, Your review is very detailed and your photos are beautiful, really imoressive. I am looking at this compact lens for a specific purpose. I want tio shoot tennis players at the US Tennis Open in late August. I realize the lens is slow at the 300mm length. I can kick up the ISO, because I will be shooting at high shutter speeds. I'll deal with the noise in post. Sure it's not a OM "pro" lens, but I'm not using the lens for a safari or other critical shots. I'll test it on different photos and see the results. Your review gave me ideas. I do have the lenses you mentioned, but I need a longer ZOOM for my purposes. This lens is very compact. 🌟 Thanks again, you've been helpful. 👌 📷 👍

Robin I completely agree with all your points. Small cameras have that kind of "take everywhere" factor that induces fun. I have both the GM1 as well as a Pentax Q-S1 (aka the two smallest interchangeable lens cameras). The super tiny lenses in the Q system are spectacularly fun too. While I kind of have to force myself to carry 1 to 1.5kg of camera with me like with my Nikon Z6 (for some reason I even prefer carrying my E-M1 III every day over that) despite it objectively shooting better photos.

Weird argument by that e-mailer. I don't think people who are smartphone photo enthusiasts would splash out 1500 or more for a full frame camera.

Totally agree with you Robin. Panasonic is only drinking their own Cool-aid. No matter how small a full-frame camera body is, once you attach a premium fast lens, the lens becomes bigger and heavier than the camera itself. If you are only using a pancake lens, what's the meaning of a full-frame sensor?

The GM1 is a gem. That's why "GM" is pronounced almost like "gem".

That “weird” control settings view is called “Live Control” menu. !!! It’s for letting you still see most of your composition while making adjustments. #1. They are both good. “Super Control Panel” for quick check of your current settings. #2. Or switch to Live Control. Great for seeing white balance as you make adjustments.
